The distinctive title of a CELA evidences an expansive knowledge
of Elder Law. The title is earned through a multi-faceted process. First,
recommendations from other Elder Law attorneys across the nation must be
provided to the National Elder Law Foundation, nominating a
particular attorney. The attorney must be committed to the practice of Elder
Law and have appreciable experience handling a large number of cases over a
significant period of time. Once this is established, the attorney must successfully
pass a comprehensive
certification exam to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of
Elder Law.
