Amy Parise DeLaney

Amy Parise DeLaney is one of eight certified elder law attorneys in the State of Illinois and the founder of DeLaney Law Offices, Ltd.  The CELA certification evidences a high degree of knowledge and experience in elder law.  

Amy DeLaney limits her practice to elder law.  This includes primarily estate planning, governmental benefits, estate administration, and guardianship and estate litigation.  Ms. DeLaney has extensive training and experience counseling older clients and their families, which permits her to expertly meet each client's unique needs and concerns.   Ms. DeLaney also designs estate plans to meet the diverse family, financial, and healthcare needs of her clients, including planning for children with special needs and tax planning for larger estates. 

Ms. DeLaney is the current president of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys in Illinois.  She also serves as a member of the elder law committees of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association, and volunteers on the board of directors of several charitable foundations, including the Veterans' Legal Aid Society in Chicago, and the Alvernia Manor Retirement Home in Lemont, Illinois.

Ms. DeLaney has been frequently quoted in media outlets such as the Daily Southtown, Chicago Tribune, and was also featured on PBS to comment on the Constitutionality of camera in nursing homes and private homes to monitor care.  

Amy DeLaney is a frequent lecturer on the topic of elder law to other attorneys and community organizations.  She has served on the faculty of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education for the past eight years, where she instructs attorneys state-wide.  She also serves on the editorial board of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Journal and is a bar review examiner for the National Elder Law Foundation. 
 
Ms. DeLaney is published in several outlets.  Recent publications include  Navigating the Labryinth of Nursing Home Contracts published in the NAELA Law Journal, she has been a contributing author on legal matters to  Chicago Hospital News, has written Medicare Appeals, published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Eduction; and Handling Medicaid Appeals,also for IICLE. Amy is a contributing author of the Elder Law Manual on Medicaid Appeals, Medicare Appeals and Long Term Care Insurance.

Ms. DeLaney earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, her Master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield, and her Juris Doctorate from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She is admitted to practice law in Washington, Oregon and Illinois, was admitted to the U.S. District Court, U.S. Tax Court, and is accredited by the Veterans Administration.
